Education and Training Projects

Education and Training

From vocational and agricultural training to specialized medical training projects, Global Partners seeks to transfer skills and knowledge that enable individuals to better address both their own needs, and the needs of their communities.  GP implements a range of projects aimed at improving both the quality of education and general access to education, on the community and national level.

Some of GP’s education and training projects in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and China are featured on this site.  In the Afghan cities of Kabul and Herat, widows, refugees, and the disabled are trained in vocational skills – ranging from carpentry to sewing to mechanics – that will enable them to provide for their families.  Literacy training at the village level gives men and women the opportunities for a better future.  Training in health care – from community health education in the villages to surgical and nursing training in provincial hospitals – improves long-term quality of life.  Training farmers in more advanced and sustainable methods of agriculture strengthens the food supply in remote villages throughout Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Global Partners has invested heavily in advancing education in Afghanistan.  GP’s English and Computer courses in the Western and Northern region trained over 2,500 students in 2010, giving them a better chance at finding higher paying jobs.  In addition, GP partnered with several Afghan run English and skills training centers, helping them improve their quality of instruction.  In the Northern region GP helped facilitate teacher training and curriculum development, and provided school books to over 33,500 students.  GP currently partners with several Afghan universities, providing instruction by Western professors in their English and Literature faculties.

In Iran, GP focuses on the refugees of Afghanistan. Its goal is to equip a war damaged generation to be contributing members of society who will assist in the rebuilding of their country when they return. GP currently runs Skills Training Centers in Iran with a total of approximately 500 students.

In all projects and programs, Global Partners provides broad-based assistance. Global Partners is a non-political NGO (Non-Government Organization), and does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion, or political persuasion.
