Health
Global Partners brings healing to places ravaged by war and disease. We care for the sick, but realize that lasting help will only come by helping improve health care delivery systems. GP enabled community health workers to utilize the DOTS method to cure over 4,000 people of Tuberculosis in Afghanistan, and today trains doctors, nurses, and community health workers in remote, vulnerable places.
Some of GP’s health care projects in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and China are featured on this site. Global Partners brings doctors from the West to work alongside local doctors to battle diseases and health conditions afflicting the people of Central Asia. In China, GP provided eye exams and prescription glasses to school children in rural areas. GP’s Western physicians helped train local family doctors in Tajikistan. Today, Global Partners trains doctors and nurses in Afghanistan, and partners with local clinics to improve quality and access to health care for the local population.
Our priority is to help improve public health in the villages, where nearly 80% of the population of Afghanistan still lives. Community Health Education (CHE) seminars provide education in basic hygiene, healthcare, and nutrition to curb disease outbreaks in villages across Afghanistan. We have trained over 200 Community Health Workers and 3,400 Community DOTS workers to battle the scourge of Tuberculosis at the village level, and they are helping to turn the tide.
In all projects and programs, Global Partners provides broad-based assistance. Global Partners is a non-political NGO (Non-Government Organization), and does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion, or political persuasion.
